Artisans mine and carve soapstone, also known as kisii stone, from extensive quarries in western Kenya's Kisii Town. Artisans in Nairobi then apply a vibrant hand painted finish inspired by animals found on the savanna. For decorative use only, as the natural dye used will change color if it contacts water.
