Artisans mine and carve soapstone, also known as kisii stone, from extensive quarries in western Kenya's Kisii Town. Artisans in Nairobi then apply a vibrant hand painted finish featuring a polka-dotted guinea fowl feather. The natural dyes used will change color if they contact liquid, so we recommend this dish for decorative use only.
