This item is handmade from soapstone, also known as kisii stone. Kisii stone is mined in the Tabaka Hills of western Kenya. Carvers in Kisii Town mine and convert the raw stone into a variety of shapes, and artists in Nairobi decorate the shapes with a beautiful Kuba cloth inspired finish.
