Artisans mine and carve soapstone, also known as kisii stone, from extensive quarries in western Kenya's Kisii Town. Nairobi artisans hand paint colorful animal inspired patterns onto each dish to create decorative accessories with a unique African vibe. Since the dyes used will change color upon contact with liquids, we recommend using these dishes for decorative purposes only.
