This unique set of three prep bowls features dyed cow bone inlay on the rim, crafted by Luo artisans living near Lake Victoria.

 

We work together with a group of Kamba wood carvers who carve collectively in the Machakos region of Kenya. The Kenyan government regulates the harvest of the wild olive trees they prefer, so only collectives are awarded permits to fell a tree. Carvers are required to register with a collective before they can receive the wood necessary to fill their orders. This helps the government better manage forest resources to ensure the health of existing trees and the future of the species.
