African Primate Ceramic Planter

Luo women have crafted cooking pots from the clay of Lake Victoria for generations. Today, the women employ the same clay and traditional craft methods to create decorative ceramics that are exported around the world.

Nairobi artist Antony Okello gives this clay pot a unique personality by hand painting images of three African primates: a mountain gorilla, baboon and chimpanzee.
