Percy Attafuah Appau (profile) is bringing out a new line of handcrafted furniture that beautifully states his affinity for technology and modern African design.

Percy's Dogon Fusion collection celebrates motifs found throughout Dogon villages in the cliffs of Mali's Bandiagara Escarpment. Beautiful carved doors embellish each Dogon home and granary, and the characters and designs carved in relief on their surface hold special meaning for their owners.

Working together with Heartwood Carving, a Eugene, Oregon, company that specializes in creating beautiful frieze and molding pieces for high end homes, Percy orchestrated the adaptation of traditional Dogon artistry to modern computer controlled carving machines. Interpreted in high quality hardwoods, the precision of each carved piece diverges from the unsystematic hand carved nature of traditional Dogon carving, underscoring the potential for a new wave of modernization in African art and design.

Percy's Dogon Fusion mirror, room divider, vanity bench and book cabinet immediately transform an empty room into a showroom of modernized African design. The cocoa toned finish gives each piece ultimate flexibility anchoring a broad spectrum of patterns and accent colors.
